Steve Chappell, 74, passed into eternity at his home in Sun City on December 28, 2009. His loving wife, Mary, was at his side when he passed away.
Throughout his adult life, he traveled and camped with his family, creating memories of ocean views, mountain campfires, jumping into cool creeks, and sleeping under the stars.
He was a loving and joyful grandfather to his seven grandchildren: Robert, Zachary, Ian, Jeff, Taylor, Aidan and Callum.
He served on worship committees at various churches during his lifetime, most recently in his community in Sun City at Christ Community Church.
Steve, a U. S. veteran, was a pharmacist in Pennsylvania and Arizona. He later served as a business manager for Christian Camps in Northern Arizona: Prescott Pines and Camp Pine Rock. He was also a drywaller, and became skilled in construction, tile, plumbing, and electrical. He volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, aiding in the construction of homes for those in need.
Celebrating his life
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. The address of the service is Paradise Park, 10950 West Union Hills Road, Sun City, Arizona.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of the Valley, http://www.hov.org/ways_to_give.aspx |

21 Jan 2010 – from Pastor Skip & Francie Bre
We had many fond memories of working with Steve at the Northern Arizona Camps in Prescott. He was always most helpful, and always a blessing and so kind. He was a wonderful servant of our Lord, always kind, considerate, and wiling to go the extra mile. We pray that Mary and the rest of the family would be comforted by our Lord at this time.

19 Jan 2010 – from Paul Smith
While at Prescott Pines, I was privileged to work closely w/Steve. His administrative talents were of great benefit to me personally. As a friend, I thank God for his time given to our growing, young sons as well as his tender care & concern of my mom & dad, after mom's heart surgery, when I had to go back to Pennsylvania. I'll see you on the other side my brother.

10 Jan 2010 – from Char and Phil Evenson
We worked with Steve at Prescott Pines for ten years. He was a huge help to me as I learned to run the bookstore. He made sure we balanced to the penny! Another memory was the jar of M & M's he kept in his desk drawer. All the little kids on staff knew where they were! Steve was a multi-talented guy and we will miss him..

My big bro' Steve was always there for me. He was the ver best model of what a son, brother, husband, and father should be. We will miss him greatly and know we will see him again. May God's peace and comfort be with Mary and children.

9 Jan 2010 – from Crickett Fuller
Steve was a wonderful example to me in my uncertain teen years. He will continue to be an influence in my life because of the very short time I spent with him. I was a summer worker one year at Prescott Pines camp.

Just as our parents help us learn to walk, they teach us how to live.
Some of my early memories of my dad are goodbye kisses in the morning that smelled like coffee and being held on his knee.
It was my dad who fed me waffles with vanilla ice cream, one of my favorite treats. And I will always think of him when I eat black licorice.
Another memory that stays with me is a phrase he once used. Because he would always want us kids to be ready to do chores around the house, he told us, “Al...
