Maynard was a great Husband, Father, Grandfather and "Jack of all Trades". In addition to being a retired Navy Veteran, he worked for the City of Los Angeles as a Waste Water Treatment Operator at the Tillman Water Reclamation Plant.
Maynard was hardworking and enjoyed pushing himself to the limit. He was passionate about helping others and freely gave of his talents as a craftsman and jack of all trades to help family, friends, and even strangers. Maynard loved reading, riding his bicycle to and from work, bowling, hiking, jogging, running marathons, scuba diving, riding his motorcycle, feeding hummingbirds, as well as sitting and watching them. He appreciated spending quality time alone, and with his family, and took pride in being a member of the Catalina Island Conservancy where he would donate his time during vacations.
Maynard was an excellent Father, and a Father figure to the many Foster Children, close to his heart: Lizzie, Ayisha Catlin (RIP), Ahjile, Mario, and James.
He met and married the woman of his dreams. She was the woman next door. He adored her and would do anything to make her happy. They were married for 25 years. She was his “Golden Princess”.
Maynard will always be remembered as the wonderful, considerate and thoughtful man he was. Thank you Maynard for all the many wonderful things you did for so many people and for the wonderful memories we’ve created together; they will leave an imprint in our hearts forever. You are loved and missed dearly!
My name is Mary Jane Bradley. I worked with Maynard at General Atomic in San Diego. We were good friends. Spent alot of time together. I was looking on facebook for people out of my past and this memorial for him came up. If you remember me Stella.we met when you and Maynard came to visit me in Borrego Springs. I also came up there, I think with my son. After your daughter was born we lost touch. I'm so sorry for your loss. I was looking forward to re-connecting with you. God Bless You.

I still think about you alot everday missing you sooo very much. just wishing i could turn back the hands of time and have another conversation with you. It is still really hard to think that I wont ever see you working at the other house again as you used to or making your jokes and so forth making me laugh. Of course I will never stop laughing at all the old jokes. I remember when you used to cut the jokes out from the paper that you handed me to read and I laughed even if i didn't understand ...
